Most of the work I’ve done over the last year has been on wood, either particle board or aspen wood. I did however start doing some works on cardboard, and I really enjoy painting on it. I’m not the only one who enjoys the medium. Edvard Munch did many works on cardboard and there are hundreds of groups related to paintings, sculpture and many other works with cardboard on flickr.
The only problem with cardboard is that it isn’t as sturdy as wood, so it really needs to be framed or at least matted. With a thick piece of wood you can just hang it up without paying for framework.
Here is a list of the pieces I’ve done on cardboard. These are all sold, but I will be making some new pieces soon.
